The COVID-19 pandemic has been the biggest healthcare challenge in recent decades, and its effects – economic, social, and health-related – are still being felt today. We are also increasingly recognizing the threat posed by other infectious diseases, such as HIV, hepatitis C, influenza virus infections, and HPV. Given the scale of the challenge and the migration crisis caused by an influx of citizens from Ukraine to Poland, it is important to continue highlighting access to rapid diagnosis, treatment, and care for patients with infectious diseases in public debates. Epidemiological data shows that the prevalence of infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and hepatitis C, is much higher in Ukraine than in European Union countries. Screening and rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases are key to reducing the spread of infection. To discuss the most effective methods of diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with infectious diseases, we have invited distinguished guests representing various communities of medical experts, including specialists in infectious diseases, laboratory diagnosticians, system experts, the Ministry of Health, the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tarification, the Medical Research Agency, the Parliamentary Health Committee, the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases, the Social Insurance Institution, and representatives of professional organizations.
