These were the key topics discussed at the 4th Patient-Centered Care Conference in Warsaw. The panel focused on prevention was moderated by Jakub Golab, President of the Institute for Social Policy Development. Participants underscored that prevention encompasses a broad spectrum of activities, including health promotion, diagnostics, vaccinations, as well as health education.
Patients need not only actions but also information to take care of their health effectively. Awareness is crucial — understanding that proper nutrition, physical activity, vaccinations, and medical check-ups contribute to a healthier life. It’s essential to talk about available tools and examinations, as well as take a broader approach to patient care.
Jakub Gołąb emphasized that beyond developing preventive programs, it is crucial to actively listen to patients—their feedback, questions, and the challenges they face. The partnership and synergy between patients and policymakers is key to designing health policies that are both effective and patient-centered.
“We need to listen to the patient’s voice,” summarized Jakub Gołąb.
Thanks to Poland’s presidency in the Council of the European Union, health is at the heart of discussions at the European level, with prevention being one of its core priorities.
