Self-awareness among young people, peer support, and teachers equipped with skills to provide so-called “psychological first aid” are key ideas proposed by Dominik Kuc from the GrowSpace Foundation to address the deteriorating mental health of children and adolescents

“The healthcare system must begin collaborating with the education system. More and more young people are struggling with mental health issues following the COVID-19 pandemic. Specialists point out that the pandemic and remote learning were not the sole causes, but rather a catalyst that accelerated certain phenomena and highlighted the priorities for the younger generation in both the healthcare and education systems,” noted Dominik Kuc.

He also emphasized that while the increase in the number of psychiatrists is a positive trend, it is equally important to consider others working with children and adolescents. Access to school psychologists is crucial. These professionals do not provide therapy for young individuals but are capable of detecting and monitoring mental health conditions at the school level.
