backThe area of child and adolescent psychiatry may become one of the key priorities of the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will begin on January 1, 2025
Prof. Dr. hab. n. med. Bolesław Samoliński is the Head of the Department of Public and Environmental Health and the Department of Environmental Threat Prevention and Allergology at the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM). He also chaired the Subcommittee on Health Priorities for the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in 2011. During last week’s conference, “The Road to the Presidency: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,” held at the Medical University of Warsaw, he emphasized that the healthcare system is facing a sudden surge in demand for mental health support. “Humanity has never before experienced such a rapid, geometric increase in issues concerning children, adolescents, and adults in the areas of interpersonal communication and mental well-being. These are extremely worrying phenomena.”
