Currently, the wait time for a genetic consultation in Poland can be counted in years. There are only 150 clinical geneticists in the country. Professor Anna Latos-Bieleńska emphasizes the need to introduce genetic nurses. Cooperation between a clinical geneticist and a genetic nurse could help shorten the waiting time for appointments at genetic clinics.

Prof. Latos-Bieleńska is appealing to the Ministry of Health to implement measures that would reduce the waiting time for visits to genetic clinics.
